The idea of an 18-game schedule has been a hot topic for both sides in the NFL's labor negotiations, but according to a negotiator for the owners' side, the players will have a much easier time reaching an accord if they agree to playing two more games.
Jeff Pash, the NFL's executive vice president of labor, says the league is "focused on a full 2011 season" but thinks the sides have a better chance of reaching a deal sooner if the players accept the expanded schedule. He added that the discussions the two sides have already had on the 18-game slate show that they are each aware of the importance of this issue to the success of the talks.
