A week after a loss to the Oakland Raiders snapped a four-game winning streak, the Chargers turned in a dominant performance, pulling away from the Kansas City Chiefs for a 31-0 victory at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego.
How one-sided was this game? San Diego had 25 first downs to five for Kansas City, and the Chargers outgained the Chiefs, 426-65.
With the victory, the Chargers - the AFC West Champions each of the past four seasons - moved to 7-6 and to within a game of first place in the division. Kansas City, which beat San Diego in the regular-season opener, slipped to 8-5.
The Chargers are now alone in second place, with the Raiders having lost to Jacksonville, 38-31, in Jacksonville Sunday.
