The Detroit Red Wings aren't exactly the opponent teams want to face when they're struggling, but that's the Blackhawks' task Friday night at the United Center.
The Hawks have dropped three consecutive games and are without the services of Patrick Kane (left ankle) and Marian Hossa (lower-body injury) as they are facing the top team in the Western Conference.
After one period, the Hawks lead 2-1. Patrick Sharp and Bryan Bickell have scored the Hawks while Patrick Eaves is on the board for Detroit.
"It's a great rivalry--Original Six teams," said goaltender Jimmy Howard, who is in net for the Wings. "Whenever we play Chicago it seems like it's always a great game. It's going to take a hard-fought effort here on the road."
