Following Saturday's practice on Northwestern's outdoor artificial surface, Bears players seemed to tone down their complaints regarding the possible slippery field at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
"I don't think where we play is an issue now," said cornerback Charles Tillman. "I think the Vikings, or the game itself... that's the issue. If we focus on that, we'll be all right."
The Bears sent equipment manager Tony Medlin and assistant athletic trainer Bobby Slater up to Minneapolis earlier in the week to check out the surface at TCF Bank Stadium. Apparently, Northwestern's facility closely approximates what the Bears and Vikings should expect Monday night.
"I think my kids will go to Northwestern now...a good facility," said Tillman. "Nice facility, nice school."
Tillman said he does not anticipate having to make a change from the normal shoes he would wear at Soldier Field at this time of year.
"I think I'll just use mold bottoms. They will be all right."
