Dwayne Bowe Finishes Superb Season With Wild-Card Dud Against Ravens

Dwayne Bowe's career-year ended on a sour note.

The Chiefs wide receiver, who led the NFL with 15 touchdown catches and earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl, didn't have a catch and wasn't even thrown to in Kansas City's season-ending 30-7 loss to Baltimore on wild-card Sunday.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Bowe said Chiefs' quarterback Matt Cassel looked elsewhere because the Ravens' rolled their coverage toward him throughout the game.

"Their defense was schemed around me, to take me out, and that's exactly what they did," Bowe said. "It happened, but that's over. We just have to learn from this -- don't turn the ball over and things like that -- and just move forward."

The Chiefs committed a team postseason-record five turnovers in losing their seventh consecutive playoff game dating back to 1994.

Cassel had his first three-interception game of the season and took three sacks while struggling to get the ball to any of his receivers. He had nine completions in 18 attempts, with wide receivers accounting for only two catches on the day -- one each by Verran Tucker and Kevin Curtis, who had all of three days practice with the Chiefs after being signed last week.

Chiefs coach Todd Haley expressed some dismay over Bowe's lack of involvement in the immediate aftermath of the game.

"To have a game like that and one of the guys that you've kind of ridden throughout the year appears to be uninvolved in the plan -- we've got to do a better job of figuring out ways to get the ball in the hands of our guys that have consistently made plays," Haley told reporters.

It will be up to a new offensive coordinator to do that. Charlie Weis called his final game as Chiefs offensive coordinator on Sunday and, as previously announced, will be leaving to take a similar job with the University of Florida.
