Oklahoma WR Broyles returning to school

One day after LB Travis Lewis decided to return to Oklahoma University for his senior season, the Sooners got more good news: All-America WR Ryan Broyles also will be going back to school. Broyles, a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award, announced Thursday that he will not enter this year's NFL draft, instead returning to Oklahoma for his senior season.

"I want to win more championships and break every record possible as a receiver," Broyles said in a statement. "I want to finish my degree. That's very important to me."

Broyles set a school record for receptions in 2010, catching 131 passes for 1,622 yards and 14 touchdowns. Broyles is 50 catches and 1,576 yards away from the NCAA career receptions and receiving yards marks.

The way we see it

Broyles definitely projects as a slot receiver in the NFL, and could have been a second- or third-round pick had he elected to come out, according to PFW draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki. Perhaps the opportunity to be the NCAA record-holder and with Oklahoma being a strong contender for a national title this upcoming season persuaded Broyles to come back for one more year.
