Report: Notre Dame, Temple set football series

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Notre Dame's desire to continue dipping its toe into the East Coast reportedly will extend to Philadelphia.

The Irish and Temple are on the verge of announcing a three-game football series, with at least one game to be played in Philadelphia, according to a report by the Philadelphia Daily News.

Temple, meanwhile, just today sent out a press release touting a "MAJOR" -- yes, in All Caps -- scheduling announcement. The earliest the series could begin is 2013.

Notre Dame is indeed set on maintaining a presence in the northeast corridor. After playing Army at Yankee Stadium this past fall, the Irish are set to play Maryland at FedEx Field in Landover, Md., in the 2011 season.
