Holy Cobb!
Randall Cobb, the Packers' second-round draft pick out of Kentucky, could not have had a more spectacular pro debut. In addition to tying a league record for the longest kickoff return ever, with a 108-yard TD return, Cobb caught a 32-yard TD pass from Aaron Rodgers. You've heard of lightning in a bottle? Cobb was lightning at full throttle, quickly establishing himself as dangerous return specialist of the highest order. Smart as a whip with terrific instincts and a natural playmaking flair, Cobb should have a couple of occasions every week when he gets an opportunity to take it to the house either on a kick return or a reception in the right spot situation.
There was one other rookie who made his presence felt on special teams in Week One, sixth-round ILB D.J. Smith. The impressive-looking backup to ILB A.J. Hawk had two special-teams tackles, one of which kept flashy Saints newcomer Darren Sproles from exploding for another touchdown on a return, besides his 72-yard punt return on which Sproles went the distance.
