Cowboys QB Tony Romo left Sunday's game against the 49ers with a fractured rib after halftime, but returned to the game at the end of the third quarter. Jon Kitna replaced him while he was seeing doctors in the Dallas locker room.
Romo had completed 8-of-17 passes for 144 yards and a score before leaving the game. Kitna threw a pick and a touchdown in the third quarter.
The way we see it
Even though he is playing through it, a fractured rib could be a serious injury for Romo. Kitna started nine games for the Cowboys last season and is one of the league's better backups, so the team is in capable hands if Romo is hurt again.
