Connor Shaw will be ready to go for opener

South Carolina quarterback Connor Shaw missed practice Thursday because of back spasms, but they're not serious and the Gamecocks expect him to be in the lineup when they open the season Thursday at Vanderbilt. Friday was a scheduled off day for the Gamecocks, and they will return to practice on Saturday. Coach Steve Spurrier said on his radio show Thursday night that Shaw went to the training room to receive treatment after experiencing the back spasms.
