Eight NFL players could be subject to suspensions for transgressions committed during the lockout, according to a Yahoo! Sports report.
The list consists of Bengals RB Cedric Benson, Buccaneers CB Aqib Talib, Titans WR Kenny Britt, Patriots DT Albert Haynesworth, Cardinals LB Clark Haggans, former Packers DB Brandon Underwood, ex-Packers DE Johnny Jolly and Bengals CB Adam "Pacman" Jones, who's currently on the team's reserve/physically-unable-to-perform list.
Although the league has not announced any suspensions, Yahoo! Sports reported Thursday that the league would suspend Benson for three games, pending an appeal to be heard next week. Benson served three days in jail during training camp after being charged with felony assault for getting into a fight in Austin, Texas.
NFL.com reports that Benson will appeal his suspension on the grounds that the NFL has no authority to suspend players for actions that occurred during the lockout. However, the Yahoo! Sports report indicated that the league and the NFL Players Association had reached an agreement that these eight players could be subject to discipline under the NFL's personal-conduct policy if the league so chooses.
NFLPA spokesman George Atallah wouldn't answer when asked by Yahoo! Sports whether the union had reached such an agreement with the league on these eight players.
