Brian St. Pierre, who has attended four Panthers practices and has thrown five passes in seven seasons in the NFL, will start Sunday when Carolina takes on Baltimore, Panthers coach John Fox announced.Fox decided against lining up the athletic Armanti Edwards, a college quarterback, in the wildcat against Baltimore.
Fox also opted not to start Tony Pike, the rookie quarterback, even though Pike has been around the Carolina meeting room through training camp and for half the regular season.
St. Pierre is, Fox would say, the best chance for his team to win.
He's right.
The Ravens walk around on defense and disguise and bluff and they will turn rookies like Pike and Edwards inside out with their game-playing. St. Pierre has seen some of the Ravens stuff before, mostly on film, but he also spent some time in Baltimore on his seven-year NFL sojourn.
