Chad Henne, Jake Long Both Miss Dolphins' Practice With Injuries

DAVIE, Fla. -- With news that one of the Chads -- Chad Pennington -- already has been placed on injured reserve, the only question left to be answered Monday by the Miami Dolphins was how Chad Henne was coming along. Dolphins coach Tony Sparano described it as "day-to-day," and on this first day the third-year quarterback out of Michigan was held out of a practice with a left knee injury.

Joining him were his left tackle and former Wolverine teammate in college, Pro Bowler Jake Long, center Joe Berger and free safety Chris Clemons. Long reportedly dislocated his left shoulder during Sunday's 29-17 home win over Tennessee. Chris Mortensen of ESPN is reporting that Long has some labrum damage and might try to go with a shoulder harness on Thursday night against the Chicago Bears at Sun Life Stadium if he is cleared to play. Berger has a knee injury and Clemons a hamstring injury.

There was a total of 13 players listed on Miami's official injury report, with safety Yeremiah Bell (toe), right tackle Vernon Carey (knee), safety Tyrone Culver (ankle) and wide receiver Roberto Wallace (knee) limited. Linebackers Channing Crowder (ribs), Karlos Dansby (elbow), Cameron Wake (hip) and Tim Dobbins (ankle) along with defensive end Kendall Langford) all participated in a full practice.

For the Bears, cornerback Zackary Bowman (foot), wide receivers Rashied Davis (quadricep), Devin Hester (shoulder) and Johnny Knox (ankle) and center Olin Kreutz (hamstring) all were limited.

Henne had his MRI on Sunday night after getting hit low late in the third quarter around the kneecap and while one initial report claimed he was likely done for the season that same evening, Sparano said "at this particular time that's not accurate." He praised Henne's play against Tennessee (19-of-28 for 240 yards, one touchdown and one interception) and when asked if he envisioned Henne playing again this year he said he was hopeful.

As for Long, the coach was more guarded and smiled when a reporter asked if a tackle could still play with the type of injury Long has.

"You got no shot. I know what you're trying to do," he said. "I mean Jake's a pretty tough guy; we'll see where we go."
