Texans unlikely to re-sign All-Pro FB Leach

While much of the Texans' discussions this offseason has centered on acquiring the right pieces to make a successful transition to new coordinator Wade Phillips' 3-4 scheme, we're hearing of at least one change that could be coming on the other side of the ball. All-Pro FB Vonta Leach, who will become an unrestricted free agent once a new labor agreement is in place, is not likely to return next season. As 2010 rushing champion Arian Foster's lead blocker, Leach was a key component in Houston's revitalized rushing attack last season. But he wants to be the highest-paid fullback in the league — a wish the pass-heavy Texans are not likely to grant. If Leach is not re-signed, third-year TE James Casey could be in the mix for a starting job. Casey has the versatility to be used as an H-back/fullback, and could compete with an undrafted free agent or veteran during camp.
