Cardinals cut S Ware, P Graham in trimming roster to 53

The Cardinals got their roster down to 53 players on Friday. Among their moves, they cut P Ben Graham and S Matt Ware and placed OG Floyd Womack on injured reserve.

The Cardinals cut S Jared Campbell, CB Fred Bennett, C Ben Claxton, QB Brodie Croyle, LB Will Davis, Graham, CB Marshay Green, DE Kenny Iwebema, OT Cliff Louis, NT Ricky Lumpkin, FB Reagan Maui'a, DE Jeremy Navarre, WR Aaron Nichols, CB Bryant Nnabuife, LB Cyril Obiozor, C Kris O'Dowd, OG Tom Pestock, RB William Powell, TE Steve Skleton, LB Kendall Smith, LB Pago Togafau, CB Thad Turner, Ware, WR Isiah Williams and OT D.J. Young.

In addition to Womack, the team placed WR Sean Jeffcoat on I.R.

Croyle was added after Max Hall landed on injured reserve. The former Chiefs backup has 10 career starts. Ware is an eighth-year veteran who spent the past five seasons in Arizona. He played in 14 games with six tackles last season.

Iwebema spent his first three NFL seasons with the Cards, paying in seven games last season.

Womack, an 11-year veteran, has a shoulder injury. He played in all 16 games with 15 starts for the Browns last season.

The way we see it

The most noteworthy release is that of Graham, who it appears has been beaten out by ex-Brown Dave Zastudil. Davis was widely expected to mount a challenge for one of the starting OLB jobs, but his health problems kept standing in the way. Maui'a was beaten out of the starting FB job by rookie Anthony Sherman. Ware was considered in the mix at strong safety behind the injured Adrian Wilson.
