Report: Saints' Hartley out 6-10 weeks

Saints PK Garrett Hartley will be sidelined 6-10 weeks, a league source told The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune on Thursday.

Hartley suffered a hip flexor while kicking an extra point in the Saints' 40-20 win over Oakland last Sunday. The injury, which has made it difficult for Hartley to walk, will not require surgery, according to The Times-Picayune. He could return in 6-8 weeks, but the injury might keep him out as long as 10 weeks, according to the source.

After New Orleans' loss to Tennessee on Thursday night, Saints head coach Sean Payton called the newspaper's report "inaccurate." However, the team signed veteran PK John Kasay shortly after Hartley was injured, leaving it with the predicament of what to do with two placekickers.

Hartley's 40-yard field goal in the NFC championship game two seasons ago lifted the Saints into the Super Bowl, and he set a Super Bowl record with three FGs of 40-plus yards in New Orleans' 31-17 win over Indianapolis.
