Cowboys QB Tony Romo, Saints S Roman Harper and Lions PK Jason Hanson were named NFC Players of the Week for their play in Week Two, the NFL announced Wednesday.
Romo returned to the game against the 49ers despite broken ribs and a collapsed lung and threw for 345 yards and two touchdowns in the comeback win, including the 77-yard pass to Jesse Holley to set up the game-winning field goal in overtime. It is the fifth time Romo has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
Harper was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week for a strong game against the Bears. He recorded seven tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble Sunday in the Superdome, helping the Saints to a 30-13 victory.
Hanson was named NFC Special-Teams Player of the Week after kicking two field goals, including a 51-yarder, and six extra points in Sunday's 48-3 win against the Chiefs. It was also a record-setting day for Hanson, who played in his 297th game with the Lions, the most for any player with a single team.
