After the Seahawks raised eyebrows with the free-agent signing of TE Zach Miller, there was instant speculation that holdover TE John Carlson might be sent packing. Truth be told, though, we hear the Seahawks were genuinely excited about the prospect of two-TE sets featuring Miller and Carlson becoming an integral part of the offense before Carlson's season ended with the announcement he would be undergoing shoulder surgery. "They liked the diversity and deception the two of them offered, but they really got to see very little of that," said one daily team observer. "Just think where they would be if they had not signed Miller." With Carlson in his contract year, there are many assuming he's as good as gone in 2012. But we hear that could be more premature speculation. "Yeah, it's hard not to acknowledge the contract being up," the observer said. "But it's not a slam dunk that he'll leave."
