The Buccaneers have expanded RB LeGarrette Blount's duties since Earnest Graham, who had serviceably filled the third-down back role, suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in Week Seven. Blount, a second-year veteran, is playing all three downs regularly, getting more opportunities to catch passes and pass protect than ever before with Kregg Lumpkin and Mossis Madu backing him up. The Bucs will use the rest of the season to evaluate Blount's performance as an every-down back, but it's clear the offense is lacking and could use a reliable change-of-pace back to complement Blount and also serve as a target for QB Josh Freeman to utilize in the passing game. Tampa Bay watched two players in that mold — Darren Sproles and Reggie Bush — change teams in the offseason, and was hopeful Lumpkin could fill that void. Lumpkin has not proven he's up to the task, however, and the Bucs will be in the market for a dynamic complementary rusher in the offseason.
