Report: Patriots likely to cut OL Kaczur

As the Patriots prepare for the draft, they could have more reason to spend an early pick on an offensive lineman.

According to PFW correspondent and Boston Herald writer Ian Rapoport, the Patriots will likely part ways with OL Nick Kaczur.

The veteran started at right tackle for five seasons, but missed all of 2010 with a back injury. The Patriots reportedly approached Kaczur about taking pay cut on his $3.4 million salary for 2011 but he was not interested in doing such a thing.

The way we see it

Kaczur could have started at guard this season when Logan Mankins was holding out, but Dan Connolly stepped in and played left guard to start the season, before moving to right guard to replace the injured Stephen Neal. With Connolly's success in 2010, he becomes the team's top backup, assuming Matt Light, Mankins and Neal all return.

With an aging line, the Patriots will likely look to add an O-lineman in the draft, and Kaczur, with that $3.4 million, becomes expendable.
