Seven more hours of meetings for owners, NFLPA

Reps from the NFL Players Association and the league office met for seven hours in Washington on Monday, the fourth consecutive day of talks as the two sides try to reach an agreement on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement.

NFL.com reports that three current players — Browns LB Scott Fujita, Jets FB Tony Richardson and Steelers QB Charlie Batch — were present at the meeting, which was held at the office of the Federal Mediation and Conciliation Service. Today's meeting lasted for seven hours.

"I've always been very optimistic about the prospects for reaching a deal. Now, I think it's possible they may reach a deal within the next week or so," said Roger Abrams, a law professor at Northeastern University in Boston, to USA Today.

The current CBA expires on March 3. The two sides have pledged to seven consecutive days of negotiations, starting last Friday.
