Pac-12 officials discuss football on Sundays

With the uncertainty surrounding when the 2011 NFL season will start, Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott told Rivals.com that they are keeping an eye on the situation, leaving open the possibility of college football on Sundays.

"We certainly are monitoring the situation. We have no plans in place at this time, but you want to be prepared and consider all options," he said. "Still, these labor situations have a way of getting done the closer they get to a critical situation."

Arizona athletic director Greg Byrne said they haven't been approached about playing on Sunday, but that it would get a big audience.

"Thursday night football hasn't been around forever, and we adjusted to that. Sunday is a day a lot of people look to watch football. You would get good exposure," he said. "But Sunday games would be something we would have to think long and hard about before we jumped into."

The way we see it

There are a lot of particulars that would have to go into college football games airing on Sundays, especially concerning the TV networks. But if the lockout lasts into the 2011 season, fans will be itching for football on Sundays, and it would make sense for a network and a conference to make the leap to make it happen.
