The NFL released its 2011 preseason schedule on Tuesday and the Patriots have a nationally-televised meeting in Detroit among their four games.
The Patriots will face the Lions on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. They beat the Lions 45-24 on Thanksgiving in 2010.
The Pats open the preseason at Gillette Stadium against the Jaguars in Week One on a date between Aug. 11-15. They travel to Tampa Bay to play the Bucs in Week Two between Aug. 18-22 before heading to Detroit. For the seventh consecutive season, the Patriots will conclude their preseason against the Giants, on either Sept. 1 or 2.
The dates are tentative and subject to change considering the current NFL lockout.
The Patriots were an NFL-best 14-2 in 2010. They fell to the Jets in the divisional-round of the playoffs.
