Colts have a number of viable options for nickel CB job

One of the more entertaining position battles to monitor, if and when training camp opens, is the nickel CB position. The Colts have at least five candidates who will compete, including Justin Tryon, Jacob Lacey, Kevin Thomas, Cornelius Brown and rookie Chris Rucker. Tryon and Lacey could have a leg up on the competition, as they are the most experienced and would suffer the least during a shortened offseason. Tryon, in particular, performed yeoman's work for the club last season when injuries decimated the secondary. Lacey took a step backward last season after making a huge impact as an undrafted rookie in 2009. Thomas, Brown and Rucker are all intriguing because they are bigger corners with great athleticism who give the club more flexibility. Said vice chairman Bill Polian on Rucker following the draft: "If you think Marlin Jackson … he has many of the same skills that Jackson had."
