Seahawks TE John Carlson will have season-ending surgery, head coach Pete Carroll announced Tuesday.
"That's a big loss for us," Carroll said.
Carlson suffered a torn labrum in his shoulder, an injury that occurred earlier in the month.
In 15 games last season, Carlson had 31 catches for 318 yards and a touchdown. It was the least productive season of his career, which was entering its fourth season. He went 55-627-5 in his rookie campaign in 2008.
The way we see it
Luckily for the Seahawks, they went out and made a splash in free agency, signing former Raiders TE Zach Miller, who will be the No. 1 tight end. The offense would have had a nice dynamic, though, with two pass-catching tight ends. Competing to be the No. 2 tight end now will be Anthony McCoy, Cameron Moorah, Anthony McCoy and Dominique Byrd.
