Bills-Redskins halftime notes

TORONTO -- The Buffalo Bills lead the Washington Redskins, 13-0, at halftime.

Here are some notes at intermission:
  • Fresh off a six-year contract extension, Bills quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick got off to a hot start but made a couple mistakes. Fitzpatrick completed five of his first six passes and led the Bills to three scoring drives in the first half. He completed 14-of-20 passes total for183 yards and a touchdown. But Fitzpatrick also had two turnovers, which included a pick in the end zoneand afumbled snap in the second quarter.
  • Buffalo is getting a good push up the middle from its defensive line. The Bills' defense is winning at the line of scrimmage against the run and pass, which has been rare this season. There hasn't been a lot of rushing lanes for the Redskins. Washington only has24 yards on the ground. Buffalo also sacked Redskins quarterback John Beckfour times.
  • The Bills blocked a field-goal attempt for the second straight week. That is the first time it has happened since 1996. Bills defensive end Spencer Johnson blocked a 49-yard attempt by Washington kicker Graham Gano in the second quarter.
  • Buffalo is one half away from winning its first game in Toronto. The crowd here is decent. It makes a lot of noise but there are many empty seats in the upper deck. The Bills are 0-3 since starting this series in Canada in 2008.
