Here's our vote for the Browns' offensive, defensive and special-teams standouts in their 20-10 loss at San Francisco on Sunday:
Offense: QB Colt McCoy
Against a tough defense, and without the benefit of much of a running game, McCoy played relatively well. He completed 22-of-34 passes for 241 yards, with a 45-yard TD pass to WR Joshua Cribbs being the Browns' top offensive highlight of the game. That said, McCoy showed poor judgment throwing into double coverage on his lone interception of the game. Also, he fumbled four times, losing one, which set up San Francisco's first TD. McCoy again took a pounding from the opposition's pass rush, as he was sacked four times by the Niners' defense.
Defense: MLB D'Qwell Jackson
On balance, Jackson had a very good game. He notched 10 sacks, five for loss. He stuffed 49ers RB Frank Gore on a 4th-and-goal run, turning away San Francisco's star back just outside Cleveland's endzone. However, Jackson was flagged for a facemask penalty on an apparent third-down stop in the fourth quarter, keeping San Francisco's game-clinching drive alive.
Special teams: PK Phil Dawson and P Brad Maynard
Dawson connected on his lone field-goal attempt, a 52-yarder to end the first half. The field goal was Dawson's fourth from 50 yards or more this season, a career-best. Maynard, meanwhile, pinned San Francisco inside its 20-yard line on four of his six punts. The Browns' specialists did their jobs very well on Sunday.
