Week Nine brings the following teams on byes: Panthers, Lions, Jaguars and Vikings. That means you lose QBs Cam Newton and Matthew Stafford, RBs Maurice Jones-Drew and Adrian Peterson and WRs Steve Smith and Calvin Johnson.
Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (7-94-0 with nine targets) has a two-game average of eight targets for seven receptions 84 yards and zero touchdowns and scoring points with yardage. He's an every-week play.
Redskins TE Fred Davis (8-94-0) led the team with nine targets, and with QB John Beck at the helm looks like the only viable receiver. He has a three-game average of 9.3 targets for 6.67 receptions, 89.7 yards and 0.3 touchdowns. He's a No. 1 fantasy tight end.
Panthers TE Greg Olsen (4-73-1) came out of his two-game drought with seven targets and, like every other tight end, will have his ups and downs. He warrants a weekly start as the position is a focal point in the Carolina offense. Jeremy Shockey (1-1-1) scored a touchdown as well.
Lions TE Brandon Pettigrew (3-8-0) has come crashing back to earth with a two-game average of five targets, 3.5 catches for 19.5 yards and zero touchdowns. Ironically, his slide has coincided with the return of Tony Scheffler (3-38-1). Regardless, Pettigrew's a matchup play and Scheffler has little value outside of larger leagues as an injury fill-in who is a touchdown vulture.
Eagles TE Brent Celek (7-94-1) offered a classic case of not ignoring some numbers, as the Cowboys have been struggling to defend the TE position and the Eagles exploited it. QB Michael Vick is settling down the past two games and involving Celek, who is averaging nine targets for 5.5 catches, 68 yards and one touchdown. He's a watch-list player.
Jaguars TE Marcedes Lewis (4-45-0) saw nine targets, showing signs of life. However, he still has no fantasy value.
