Pouncey placed on I.R. before Steelers' final workout

Just a day before they play in Super Bowl XLV, the Steelers placed C Maurkice Pouncey on I.R. and signed OL Dorian Brooks from their practice squad. Pouncey was ruled out of the game Friday when he was unable to practice on his injured ankle.

Brooks, an undrafted rookie from James Madison, was on the practice squad all season long for Pittsburgh.

The team held its final walkthrough on Saturday afternoon at TCU in Fort Worth, Tex. Normally teams hold final practices in private, but the Steelers invited the families and children of players and coaches to attend, as well, according to PFWA pool reporter Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com. Head coach Mike Tomlin said the attempt to recreate a normal work environment was useless, since the Super Bowl is not a typical game.

"Nothing else was normal," Tomlin said. "But there's not a lot about this week that is (normal), so we're not going to fight against it. We're going to embrace it."

Watkins also reported that family members weren't the only guests at the team's workout. Steelers owners Dan Rooney and Art Rooney II, TCU football coach Gary Patterson and Steelers greats John Stallworth and Mel Blount also watched the team prepare.
