After his breakthrough season in 2010, Michael Vick will remain in the green and white of an Eagles uniform for at least one more season.
The team is expected to place its franchise tag on the 30-year-old quarterback in February, a source told Jason La Canfora of NFL.com. The tag is a one-year contract, making Vick an unrestricted free agent in 2012. Vick had said previously he wants to sign a long-term deal with Philadelphia.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports the team will entertain trade offers for QB Kevin Kolb, who lost his job to Vick early in the 2010 season.
The way we see it
The Eagles had an 8-3 record in games that Vick started during the regular season, though they were not able to pull out a win against the Packers in the wild-card round of the playoffs. With Vick returning next season, Philadelphia once again should have one of the top offenses in the NFL. If Kolb is dealt, the team will need to acquire a backup QB, as Vick has not shown to be very durable during his career.
