Rutgers names Angelichio tight ends coach

At this point, perhaps they should change the name of Piscataway to Pittsburgh North.

Rutgers has officially hired yet another former member of Dave Wannstedt's Pitt staff. This time, Greg Schiano announced that Brian Angelichio will serve as the Scarlet Knights' tight ends coach. Angelichio spent the past five years on the Panthers coaching staff.

“Brian is a great fit for our football family,” said Schiano. “He has a bright offensive mind and has demonstrated an excellent ability to recruit and develop players, something that is a staple of our program.”

Angelichio, who worked as Pitt’s offensive coordinator in the BBVA Compass Bowl win against Kentucky, is the third former Panthers coach to join Schiano. The other two are offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti Jr. and Jeff Hafley, whose exact role has yet to be specified.

Angelichio tutored former all-Big East and NFL draft picks Nate Byham and Dorin Dickerson at Pitt. His first order of business with Rutgers is to get the most out of D.C. Jefferson, a former quarterback who has the physical tools to be a terrific player.
