The Vikings have come up with contingency plans in case RCB Cedric Griffin isn't ready to return for the start of the season following his second consecutive year with a season-ending ACL injury, one in each knee. But the plan remains for Griffin to get the first crack at starting. He's the team's second-best tackling corner behind Antoine Winfield and can play in the team's press-zone schemes. Head coach Leslie Frazier told PFW before the draft that the plan was for Chris Cook, last year's second-round pick, to remain at right corner. He and Griffin likely will compete for a starting job, and Cook could factor into the nickel package if he loses out. Winfield is better in the slot than Cook, but Cook spent some time at left corner in training camp last season.
