SEC Heisman watch: Week 11

Here is a look at our weekly Heisman candidates in the SEC:

1. Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama: Richardson didn't exactly have his Heisman moment against LSU over the weekend. This was a chance for him to definitively put him at the top of the national Heisman race, but LSU's defense kept him in check as best as it could by keeping him away from the end zone. Still, most running backs would have loved to have the night Richardson did, as he had a couple of memorable runs with LSU defenders strapped on for the ride. He finished the night rushing for 89 yards and caught five passes for another 80 yards against the Tigers.

2. Jarius Wright, WR, Arkansas: Wright just continues to make plays for the Razorbacks. He has been quarterback Tyler Wilson's most consistent target this season and was the beneficiary of both of Wilson's touchdown passes in Arkansas' 44-28 win over South Carolina. Wright looked to be too fast for the Gamecocks' secondary all night. He finished with four catches (but could have had more) for 103 yards and two touchdowns. He currently leads the league lead with 812 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.

3. Michael Dyer, RB, Auburn: Dyer was off this past weekend, which could be bad news for Georgia's defense because he's finally getting a chance to recharge his batteries. Coming out of the bye week, Auburn's workhorse on the ground is still second in the SEC in rushing yards with 989. He also has nine touchdowns on the season and he still leads the league with 186 carries on the year. In his second year, Dyer truly has embraced his heftier role in Auburn's offense and is a reason this team has surpassed expectations thus far.

4. Tyler Wilson, QB, Arkansas: With every game that goes by, it seems like Wilson just gets better and more comfortable in the Razorbacks' offense. Against a talented South Carolina defense, Wilson had his way for most of last Saturday night. He completed 20 of his 37 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns. He did chuck up a desperation ball that was intercepted almost immediately after he let go of it, but Wilson came right back on Arkansas' very next play with a 68-yard touchdown strike to Wright. On the year, Wilson leads the SEC with 2,626 passing yards and has 15 touchdowns to four interceptions.

5. Jarvis Jones, LB, Georgia: Defensive players have a hard enough time getting Heisman attention. But a linebacker? Hardly. Still, Jones has had one of the most impressive seasons of any defender in this league. This is his first year suiting up in the SEC and he has looked more than ready in such a demanding league. Jones has 46 tackles on the year, but where he's made his mark is in other teams' backfields. He has an SEC-high eight sacks and 14 tackles for loss this year.
