The direction and composition of the Bengals' offense remain issues to watch. Head coach Marvin Lewis, in a recent interview session with the team's official Web site and The Cincinnati Enquirer, noted that the offense seemed to lack an identity this past season. At issue is the Bengals' move to a more pass-oriented offense in 2010. They attempted 618 pass plays (590 attempts, 28 sacks) and 428 rushes in 2010 compared to 506 pass plays (477 attempts, 29 sacks) against 505 rush attempts in 2009. Speculation has swirled about offensive coordinator Bob Bratkowski's future with the club after the Bengals finished 20th in yards gained in 2010 and didn't seem to hit their stride offensively until late in the season. RB Cedric Benson, who's been the focal point of the ground game the last three seasons, is slated to be a free agent. He has six years of service, and the Bengals would like to re-sign him.
