HONOLULU -- Dozens of NFL fans waited hours in line for free tickets to the Pro Bowl only to learn the tickets had mostly already been handed out.

The NFL gave the nonprofit Friends of the Library Hawaii 500 tickets. The nonprofit said it would give them away on a first-come, first-serve basis Friday at 2:30 p.m.

But by that time, the group already handed out nearly all of the tickets.
Executive Director Byrde Cestare told KITV the group decided to give 300 tickets to their volunteers.

On top of that, they started giving out coupons for the remaining 200 tickets starting at 1 p.m.

The group -- which supports Hawaii's public libraries -- told Hawaii News Now it will distribute tickets differently if it's given tickets again in the future.
