Bruce Matthews Staying With Texans

Bruce Matthews is staying in Houston.

And to hear him tell it, that's exactly where he wanted to stay.

Matthews, an offensive assistant with the Houston Texans the past two seasons, opted to remain with the franchise after meeting with Texans owner Bob McNair, John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reported Monday.

Matthews, who interviewed with the Dallas Cowboys last week, met with coach Gary Kubiak last week and met with McNair Monday. He signed a new contract Monday.

"I'm signed back with the Texans," Matthews said. "It was never my intention to leave. I want to be in Houston. I like what's going on. We're very close to where we want to be, and I'm glad to be part of it."
