Broncos add pair of coaches to staff

The Broncos have added coaches Ron Milus and Richard Smith to their coaching staff.

Milus, who enters his 12th season coaching in the NFL, will coach the secondary. He held the same position with the Panthers from 2009-10 under head coach John Fox and broke into the league as Denver's secondary coach from 2000-02

Smith will coach the linebackers.

Like Milus, Smith spent the past two seasons with Fox in Carolina where he served as the linebackers coach. He has experience with the Broncos, as well, coaching in Denver from 1993-96 as a special-teams coach. He also coached the Broncos' linebackers from 1993-94.

The way we see it

Bringing over a pair of veteran coaches from Carolina should help new defensive coordinator Dennis Allen, who has not been a coordinator before. The Broncos' new staff will have a lot of work to do in turning around Denver's defense, which ranked last in the NFL a season ago.
