The Steelers downgraded WR Hines Ward (ankle) and ILB James Farrior (calf) from questionable to out on Sunday morning before their Week Eight bame against the Patriots.
Farrior is the team's leading tackler with 45 on the year including two sacks. He also has three passes defensed. Second-year LB Stevenson Sylvester will start for Farrior.
Ward has 26 catches for 258 yards and two scores this season and Emmanuel Sanders will start for him.
The way we see it
In terms of receiving, the Steelers have depth and can plug Sanders right in for Ward, but they lose a solid run blocker in Ward.
On defense, losing Farrior is tough against such a high-octane Patriots offense that loves to use the middle of the field with their tight ends.
