WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Northwestern fans had a pleasant image in pre-game warmups, watching John Shurna suited up and taking pregame shots at Mackey Arena.
The Wildcats forward had rolled his ankle and was iffy heading into the Big Ten opener at Purdue.
Northwestern (9-1) needs his scoring help to offset Purdue's stellar duo of center JaJuan Johnson and guard E'Twaun Moore. The two rank third among the nation's scoring pairs with 39.5 combined points per game.
The Wildcats know how to beat Purdue. They toppled the then-No. 6 Boilermakers last season in Evanston. The Boilermakers later knocked Northwestern out of the conference tournament quarterfinals with a 69-61 victory.
The Boilermakers have adjusted well to the loss of leading scorer Robbie Hummel at the start of the season to a knee injury.
