Here are the most interesting stories Monday in the AFC East:
- Mike Berardino of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports, via a source, Miami Dolphins coach Tony Sparano is safe through the bye week.
Morning take: This won't make many Dolphins fans happy. But long term, I don’t think it matters. Miami isn’t going anywhere in the AFC East this season with Sparano or an interim coach. - Tom Curran of Comcast SportsNet New England writes the Patriots' defense took baby steps in a win over the Oakland Raiders.
Morning take: New England’s defense played better. But the knee injury to linebacker Jarod Mayo is going to hurt. Mayo might be the team’s best defender. Morning take: There is no excuse for blowing a two-touchdown lead to the Bengals. If Buffalo wants to be a serious AFC contender, it has to finish those games. Morning take: Crisis may be a bit strong for Week 4. But it is time to be concerned. The Jets are nowhere near where they should be offensively.Source: http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/32194/morning-take-tony-sparano-safe
