Chargers TE Antonio Gates returned to practice on Monday and is hopeful to play in Week Seven vs. the Jets.
With Gates having been out since Week Two because of plantar fasciitis in his right foot, his return to practice is a positive sign for the All-Pro. Although unlikely to be at full speed, his presence alone would be a benefit to the San Diego offense.
Also practicing for the Chargers on Monday were RBs Ryan Mathews and Mike Tolbert, who are battling calf and concussion injuries, respectively. WR Vincent Jackson, who has a strained hamstring, was held out of the workout but is still expected to play against New York on Sunday.
