The Lions have reportedly placed QB Matthew Stafford on injured reserve. MLive.com is reporting that Stafford, who suffered a separated right shoulder in Week Nine, will officially be done for the season.
Shaun Hill, who has started eight games this season, is expected return to the starting role Sunday against the Dolphins. Hill has missed the last three games after suffering an injury against the Patriots in Week 12.
Drew Stanton has started the last three games (the Lions have gone 2-1). Head coach Jim Schwartz said he will not make a decision on his starting quarterback for Sunday until game time.
In his three starts this season, Stafford, the 2009 No. 1 overall pick, threw for 535 yards, six TDs and just one interception.
The way we see it
This is another sad end to the season for the young, injury-prone Stafford, who also missed the last two games of 2009. The Lions have a solid, young nucleus and could have possibly won a couple more games this season with Stafford healthy.
