Newspaper reports Roethlisberger has broken foot

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger has a broken foot but is expected to start for the team on Sunday night vs. the Ravens.

Roethlisberger's injury, which was suffered during the team's Week 12 vs. the Bills, was initially listed as a sprain. It turns out the fifth metatarsal bone, or the outside metatarsal, on Roethlisberger's right foot is broken, according to the newspaper.

The QB and offensive coordinator Bruce Arians both said after practice that the team's game plan will not be affected by the injury.

The team issued a statement countering the newspaper, saying: "In response to inquiries about Ben Roethlisberger having a broken foot, Steelers spokesperson Dave Lockett said there is no new fracture in Ben's foot. Ben's current injury is an aggravation of an old injury where scar tissue is present."

The way we see it

If Roethlisberger can play, it is good news for the Steelers. In their last eight meetings with Baltimore, the team is 5-0 when Big Ben starts and 0-3 when he doesn't.
